《大原写生会について》

はじめに

​

いすみ市東端に位置する大原漁港。この地がかつて「写生の街」であったことをご存じでしょうか。

 

伝説のイラストレーター長沢節は、こよなく愛したフランスの地への想いを重ね、この地を「日本のコートダジュール」と呼び、毎年写生に訪れました。また、節の私塾であるセツ・モードセミナーの生徒たちは、毎年春の訪れとともに師と大原に赴き、多くの作品をのこしました。

大原での事故をきっかけに1999年6月、節はこの世を去りますが、この文化的行事は、師不在の同校で脈々と引き継がれ、地元市民にも支えられながら、数十年に渡ってこの地で続きました。

2017年のセツ・モードセミナー閉校に伴い、大原漁港の写生会はその役目を終えました。しかしながら、同校が輩出したファッションデザイナーやイラストレーターが依然活躍中であることなど、同校の威光は輝きを失っておらず、もはや伝説となった大原の風景の美しさは、口づてにいまも広がり続けています。

2019年、大原写生会は再スタートを切り、約50名のあらたな絵描きが大原の地にアートの息吹を運びました。2020、2021、2022年は、感染症の影響で現地開催が困難であるなか、それぞれ99、160、171作品がウェブ上で集まりました。そして2023年――。いすみ市現地とウェブ上で、6月3日、4日に「大原写生会2022」開催が決定。当サイトはその新しい試みを紹介するものです。

About the Ohara Sketch

Did you know Ohara fishing port which is located at the eastern tip of Isumi City, Chiba, was once called a "city of sketching"?

Legendary illustrator Setsu Nagasawa over-lapped his love of French Riviera to this place and called it "Japanese Côte d'Azur", and visited every year to sketch with students of his private school, Setsu Mode Seminar.

As a result of a cycling accident in Ohara in June of 1999, Setsu passed away. However, this cultural tradition had been supported by many of Ohara locals and carried on by his pupils, for over a decade after his death.

With the closing of the Setsu Mode Seminar in 2017, theOhara Sketch ended its role as well.  However, the beautiful scenery of Ohara still lingers among many of the alumni, it is still talked about as a great fond memory among them.  Now, as many of the alumni of Setsu Mode actively play part in Fashion design, illustration and many other fields, the school's influence is still very eminent.

In 2023--- from this year, the event will be held on June 3th and 4th as the "Ohara Sketch 2023".  And this site will be the place to inform and introduce this exciting new attempt as a sketching event.
